Aura Que

Aura Que make an amazing range of bags, purses and tote bags which are handmade by artisans in Nepal and Vietnam

Artisan made - Aura Que bags are made by a fair trade collective in Nepal that mainly works with female producers and also employs and trains some deaf people, with staff learning sign language to communicate with them. Established with financial support from UNICEF this collective is dedicated to promoting traditional Nepalese craft skills as well as applying modern techniques in order to generate income for under privileged craft producers

The Aura Que and Kaffe Fassett collaboration is new for 2018 and combines amazing designs by the world renowned artist and textile designer Kaffe Fassett with the ethical production by artisans in Vietnam

Fabrics - Aura Que uses local materials wherever possible in their products to promote traditional skills and processes and increase production and supply in developing countries like Nepal

Ethical Policy - Aura Que strives to conduct business to the highest ethical and environmental standards and works closely with small producer groups that are World Fair Trade Organization members to ensure healthy and safe work environments and payment of living wages. They also encourage trade for small family businesses and charity handicraft units under the same fair principles

Reducing carbon footprint - Although Aura Que currently uses airfreight to transport products to the UK they aim to carbon offset all air miles in order to reduce the carbon footprint of the company and continue to look for ways to keep improving

Recycling - In both the studio and workshps they reuse and recycle as much as possible

Charity work - Aura Que work with various charities in Nepal and is particularly involved with the Nepal Leprosy Trust which runs the Lalguardh Leprosy Hospital in Janakpur which provides treatment for 30,000 patients every year which is provided free of charge. They also provide work and support to leprosy sufferers who may have been shunned by their families and communities due to their disabilities
