"Hi, My name is Veronica and I'm a wool artisan from Bolivia.
I was born and raised in Charazani, a very small town of 700 people about 4 hours away from La Paz which can only be reached by a dirt road. Looking for better opportunities, I moved to El Alto. All my family and parents are still in my home town which I get to visit twice a year.
Through lots of efforts and hard work, I have managed to own a group of llamas, from whom I collect the wool to make my own wool products and also to sell wool to other artisans.
I have three children, Ximena, 15 years old, Walter, 12 years old, and my baby, Tatiana, just 2 years old. I'm very lucky to to have a hard-working husband who does his best to provide for me and our children. Of course, life is not easy; therefore, whatever work I do greatly helps to contribute to our family income.
I'm a proud Bolivian woman who besides the adversities, I love my country. I’m trilingual too. I speak Spanish, quechua and Aymara.
My dream for the future is to see my children become people of good.
I’m very happy to be part of the beyondBeanie project. I’m glad that my work contributes not to only to help my family, but also to provide meals and school supplies to much needed street and orphaned children.
Enjoy my creations :)
