Rapanui is about making eco-fashion cool!
Here are Nature Shop we are passionate about the Rapanui brand as not only are their products 'right on spec for us', but it is also very obvious how passionate they are about sustainability, traceability and doing what's right environmentally and socially.
The Rapanui range includes top quality tees and hoodies made from organic, natural fibres. Whilst the organic, ethical and low carbon approach to their clothing is unique, Rapanui's real contribution to sustainability has come from the traceability of their products. They provide the customer with a traceability map for every item and you can find out exactly where that product comes from and how and where it is made.........From the seed being sewn, picked, spun, sewn and transported.
It is traceability from 'Seed to Shop', which is why Nature Shop are big fans of Rapanui Clothing! And of course the fact that their products are high quality with cool imagery!
Rapanui are making a difference in the fashion industry and they are not afraid to voice their views on 'conscious consumerism'........they are offering their customers the knowledge of exactly how their garments are produced and the impact it has on our planet.
"Fashion is like no other medium, in that you literally dress yourself in what you believe in. Rapanui gives people a choice to vote with their wallet for ethical fashion. We’re want to use the power of fashion to make eco cool, and design traceable, transparent products that let you shop quickly with a conscience.” - Mart Drake-Knight, Co-Founder of Rapanui.
We hope you like Rapanui clothing as much as we do!
Rapanui's Environmental Credentials
Check out all of Rapanui's Environmental Credentials that their products adhere to! This is a company that is making a huge effort to ensure they are offering the best when it comes to environmentally friendly fashion!
Conventional (non-organic) Cotton has a huge impact on our environment, it is one of world's largest crops to be cultivated and accounts for a whopping 16% of the world's pesticide use! This is more chemicals per unit area used than any other crop! Cotton grown organically, has a much less negative impact on our environment. It is grown without harmful synthetic chemicals, pesticides and fertilisers, which means not only is it safer for us to wear, but so much kinder to our environment. Growing cotton organically is nuturing and preserving our environment, creating a cleaner and healthier product for all involved. Read more about Organic Cotton here.
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
Rapanui print their designs on garments that carry the GOTS certification. To be certified by GOTS the organic cotton production must comply to strict criteria that is assessed and tested by international, certified bodies. Rapanui also print using phthalate-free Fujifilm inks that also comply with the GOTS criteria.
Oeko-Tex Standard 100
The Oeko-Tex label, or Oko-Tex Standard 100, is an international certification system for textile manufacturing. This label is a recognised benchmark for the consumer and an additional quality assurance tool for the manufacturer. Clothing with this label has been tested at every stage of production to make sure that is is free of harmful chemicals and substances. The concept has become firmly established as a safety standard throughout the textile and manufacturing chain.
Rapanui have developed a unique and simple eco-labelling system to explain and summarise the often confusing information on clothes production. Their A-G eco-labelling for clothing is there to make it easy for consumers to shop quickly with a conscience and learn exactly where the product falls within the 'Eco Radar'! A for being great! And G for being......not so great.

Rapanui works with manufacturers who belong to the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF). Low Carbon Emissions
The carbon in clothing production has one of the most significant environmental impacts and this logo shows that a conscious effort has been made to reduce the carbon footprint of the product. Rapanui are dedicated to sourcing the most effective suppliers to reduce the carbon emissions throughout their production process.
Rapanui reduced its net carbon emissions at product level by over 80% in 18 months through low impact farming, a no air-freight policy and using factories powered by solar and wind power. Overall, Rapanui products have a carbon footprint amongst the lowest in the world for their kind. Taking into account the UK’s very ambitious emissions reductions targets of “80% by 2050” this makes Rapanui's actions a generation ahead of these targets and far ahead of the average high street store actions on emission reductions and sustainability.
This logo is your guarantee that you are buying a lower-carbon garment. This does not include post-purchase emissions or delivery transport to consumer.
From Seed to Shop
When Rapanui developed the concept from 'seed to shop', their traceability maps were among the first to trace the product supply chain right down to the planting of the seed, the fabrics, the manufacturing process, energy used and transport.
Nature Shop loves that Rapanui have made these traceability maps available for every single product in the Rapanui collection. They provide details and images right back to the people who pick the cotton in the fields, pictures inside the factory where the cotton is cut and sewn, plus the full journey from truck, to boat, to warehouse in the UK.
